I’ve had this 60 for 2 years, taking slow steps toward full restoration/mild mods. Body is completely rust free, and original paint. It has a few dings, tons of chips, and virtually no paint on the hood and roof. I had most dents removed by a paintless dent guy, except for the rear qtr, where it hooked bumpers with a Jeep. That will get addressed at the paint shop. I hope to post pics of progress, as the paint shop is less than 10 minutes away.

So far, I have done the following:

LM7 5.3, Z06 cam Swap. DBC. 371HP on the dyno at the flywheel.
4L60 trans
Re geared to 4:10
80 series trans cooler
FJ62 shifter
Added cruise control
OME suspension
Factory 70 series 16” Wheels
285 tires
New TTailor carpet
BMW 3 series power heated seats with Torfab brackets
Rear seat recovered to match
Factory Radio Upgraded to electronic
Rear shoulder belts
Cleaned out and refilled gutter with drip check

So now it’s time to go to paint. I will be stripping it down, removing glass, and get it completely painted, including jamb, core support and front fender wells.

Here is how it sits today

Since this one is already pretty modded out, I went with a 2 stage on the same 8b4 color. It made it look pretty good in my opinion.

Nice mods brother! That’s gotta be a nice driving truck and soon to be a real looker I’m sure!

Ive done similar mods to mine and Hoping to get it in for new paint this year too. And then reupholstered after that.

Cheers!

That looks awesome. Nice rear sliders!

I really like my window decals from previous travels. They are staying. Windows getting re tinted as the tint is all scratched up

So question on the paint that was shot, you said that it was a 2-stage 8B4 but by what brand? I haven't done a whole lot of research but it looks like yours is missing the metal flek in the paint. Could just be because it is inside and what not. Planning to finish my body work this summer so I can spray my truck and was looking for a single-stage hardened enamel (like farm implement paint) that was a close color to the 8B4 but did not have the flek (as that is just one more thing for my newb painting skills to worry about).

I guess when it is painted, it will be considerably darker

Here are pics of the window channel when the glass was removed

I want tinted windows badly. These things are like an oven in the summer heat.

i retinted mine. my buddy owns a tint shop and said it’s so much easier and you get a nicer job doing it while the windows are out. i’d say redo it. i like the look too especially on that colour. mine is same colour and i love it

Got the glass all out, as well as everything else. just need to remove some sealer in the front and rear window channels, and the rear hatch hardware. Delivering this weekend to paint.

No hidden rust in the window channel. A little on the middle rear frame rail behind the rear bumper.

I voted For the tint. I have the same dark gray 62 with tint. It looks really good if you like the "darker" look. I like the tint too because it helps conceal things in the vehicle.

These photos are not my truck but mine is nearly identical with same tires, color, tint, and similar black wheels...

I voted for tint too. Mine has some tint, but I will be removing and going darker in the near future. It helps with heat and keeps prying eyes out of my business.
