My "Filter" light came on when I wiggled the fuse box trying to troubleshoot a starting problem, and now it won't go out. I know there is no water in the separator because I just emptied it.

My separator is not hooked up (The wires going to it are cut by PO) and the light has never lit up before (except when I start the truck). Why is it all of the sudden coming on?

Should this light come on if the wires going to it are cut? I would think that this would cut all power to the filter. Or is it the type of thing where the light comes on if there is a break in the circuit and it should have been on all along, but the fuse wasn't powering it until I wiggled it?

Why would someone cut these wires, and should I try to splice them back together or just live with it and empty it every few weeks?

On my BJ42 if that light and the seatbelt light comes on it means the truck is not charging. did you short any wires ? if so there are 2 fuses under the hood on the left side on the back side of the fender that may be blown.

Good luck Myrle

pull the fuse box and look for touching wires or loose connctions. BUT disconnect the batteries first.
