I believe you must be thinking of a 102" (1/4-wave) stainless steel whip - I don't of anyone who makes a fiberglass antenna that long, it would be a heavy and wind-catching SOB.

I know rat shack used to carry them, I used to have one... then they switched to stainless.

Those Rad Shack 1/4 fiberglass wips were and are probably the best . I had one 21 years ago. I have been looking but cant find.
