I'm thinking about getting rid of my 40 and picking up a really good shape 1st gen 4runner(1985 preferred). Reasoning: I've had a couple of 60s and an 80 and I miss having the cargo area, but I like the openess of the 40. 1st gen runner can still go topless and has more room than the 40. Am I crazy? What say the locals before put this out into the free world?

Specs/goods:
4 in Hell Creek lift
35" Dunlop Mud Rovers on black steelies
Lockrite rear locker
Saginaw PS Conversion
3FE conversion, demogged
Hard top w/all doors, also have soft top & bikini
Stock front drum axle removed and replaced with a 1976 disc axle

The rub:
The motor has a wrist pin knocking. I've been driving it that way since January and hasn't gotten worse. I have another 3FE on standby that will just need to be dropped in. All of the hard stuff is done, wiring etc.
The tub has had some bondo work along the way and is starting to crack in some places

Just trade it to Jason (arcteryx) for his 4Skinner.

Nice! Green 40s rock!!!

Just trade it to Jason Darling for his 4Skinner.

Not sure who Jason is or what his truck looks like, but it would have to be pretty nice/built for a straight up trade. Cash + runner would work as well.

He's got a nice looking white 4Skinner. Ask Edwin about it.

yes it's a nice runner. but i don't think he will part with it again. the last time he sold it he was sad for the whole year it was gone & as happy as a pig-n-mud when he got it back. but you never know.

Sorry to hear it man, know you've been bummed about the engine issue ever since the swap :frown: Having owned both I just gotta say 4Runners are neat, but they just ain't Cruisers. That little 22R/E isn't gonna feel like the mighty 3FE!

Not selling it. You know the saying, "If you let something go, and it comes back to you, it’s meant to be yours." Well, this is menat to be mine. Eventually, the kids will get it.

Good looking rig Uno- I will meet ya on Sat. If I decide to part m 91 FJ80, I will let you know so you can tell the new owner.

BTW Edwin, I got 21 mpg on my last tank, pretty stoked about that with the new head.

True true! I suppose there was a reason I posted this thread. If I was sure about it, it would have been gone already. The 40 stays with me....3FE part II is going in soon!

That's good news. Don't give up on that nice cruiser :)
