Im planning on it

Looks like a good time, I am in.

For those not familiar with the gas station, its on the north side of the road and has a McDonald's inside. You cant miss it. The renaissance festival lets out around 1600 hours, it is a few miles east of Gold Canyon. If you are heading west at that time prepare to be delayed until The 60 becomes a freeway again. We got really hosed yesterday coming back from wheeling out by Queen Valley.

Do you know what elevation the possible camping locations would be, fire restrictions?

The camp site is around 4000-4200 feet and there are no fire restrictions. The one I am thinking of has alot of large cottonwoods and plenty of space.

I will update current last post for additions.
This should be a good time. Rose reminded me to tell you to bring binoculars, if you have them.

I'm in for a campout - unless I have to move my daughter this weekend.

My youngest has a B-day party early Sunday otherwise I would camp. I spent Saturday night at Reavis Ranch in the Superstition Wilderness and it was perfect weather.

It's true that the Ren Fair straffic starts picking up up around 4 ish, but closing time is not until 6 pm. Traffic can be pretty nasty until well after dark.

They open at 10 am, but the morning traffic tends to start getting heavier before 9. John

Not sure about camping out but I will bring my gear just in case. One can come home via Payson after this correct?

Yes, the distance is within a few miles going Beeline or Globe to the start of Cherry Creek road, from Scottsdale anyway.

I need to know who will be camping out and where.
I was thinking about the plan and thought it may be better to go up 188 to Young and come back down toward Globe. Then its an air down and an air up. I don't want to mess up any plans, so just let me know who's doing what. It doesn't matter to me we can run it either way, but I just thought i would throw it out there. I also don't mind going through Payson, if the traffic is going to suck. That can be decided that day. I see Phil chiming in but didn't see a commit to come .

If I am not moving my daughter this weekend I will be leaving after work on Friday and camping somewhere around Globe.

I planned to intercept your convoy Saturday morning, and Saturday night I will be camping wherever I park the FJ40.

I had hoped to make the round trip Globe -> Young -> Globe on both 288 & Cherry Creek, and it doesn't matter to me which is first leg of the trip.

Lost Dutchman Days parade will be going on Sat morning on the Apache Trail in Apache Junction. Stay on the 60 as many roads are blocked off in AJ. This should not be an issue at all but just an FYI. This has been your official daily traffic update.
:deadhorse:

I prefer South to North. Most of 188 to Young is dirt I believe. So if that is true and the dust kicks up it will be slow going. Also going South to North lets people decide which way they want to go home. North to South doesn't.

I'm the new guy so feel free to tell me to shut up. Hazing expected but I have already been snipe hunting...
