I gotta be at Navajo this weekend, rather not spend all day in the sun on a boat. Anyone interested in exploring the glade/Choke Cherry Canyon either Saturday or Sunday?
I'll be in the 4Runner so open for either exploring or some mildly technical stuff... I don't want to tear up the rig, though, I have another trip planned soon.
@TroutRunner any chance you have some time to kill either day or can connect me with folks already headed out there that wouldn't mind a tag along?

Thanks

Possibly...need to get out but have to clear it with the family.
I'm leaning on Saturday but not sure yet

maybe 50/50 chance...stay tuned

Good! Let me know. Sunday would be better but I can make Satuday work.

Great place to wheel. We will be in Chama riding the train. Have fun. Lots of places to get lost in the Glade. post some pics.

Actually Sunday is looking good, what time do you want to meet?

I’ll be in the 4R so mildly technical sounds good.

I’m in the west side of Navajo. 9? Pm’ing

Talked to Grant and looks like we’ll be meeting at a Conoco station in Farmington @ 9am that’s on the way to the Glades.

Thanks for letting me tag along! Looking forward to it.

A few pics I had, got a few video clips I’ll post once I figure out what to do with them. Not really enough for a video...

Was a good hot day with 3 generations of 4Runners! I learned a lot. Like,

always double check electrical connections, I melted a fuse holder for my eBay 2m radio, probably a poor mechanical connection. Glad for no fire.
I learned to stock up on regular tool kit to leave in the truck.
I learned to bring more spare parts. Maybe I should bring along at least 1 of my 2 extra front axle shafts for the next time I kill one. They did me a lot of good sitting at home.

@Chompers and @lurch thanks for getting some pics and for making the haul up there. My teenage copilot got some great selfies on my phone, but other than the below, little else ... sorry!

I miss living in Farmington. But I do enjoy having a more stable job in Albuquerque.

We decided that we need a guide to show us around next time since none of us had ever spent much time there.

We stumbled upon gladiator black diamond trail which seems better suited for a buggy. Otherwise we just poked around.

I'd definitely go back when it's cooler. With spare parts and a guide!

Need to coordinate another run with Graham, and do it in October/November.

Melted fuse holder. The fuse never blew. The holder distorted to the point of losing contact and losing power. That was the only indication of trouble. Both terminal ends were poorly crimped and not soldered.
