Fan Shroud (1 Viewer)

I just got finished putting on a new water pump, when I took off the fan shourd some of it crumbled in my hands, and it is in pretty rough shape, I was wondering if it would be alright to leave it off for winter, blast and weld it in the spring, when I install my new rad, put it back on?

The fan shroud is a good part of cooling system ( it did not seem right ! ) I thought if you don't have any temp issue you can go without it .. but if you star with some temp problems you know where are comming ..

cool thanks guys, just wanted to check, I know I have seen a few truck without shrouds.
