What was the production date range of when a Fan Pulley spacer was used on a FJ40 ?

and why was is used on some applications only ?

also , how does a FJ55 play into this ?

im dealing with a 11/75 Fj40 2F USA spec. , that has direct drive water pump and NO oil cooler Option ..........

should i have a spacer , or not ......?

thanks ......

I "think" that the radiator is slightly closer to the engine in a 55 than In a 40...

did 40's with a 2F ever have one ?

Dunno. My 74 40 with a 1.5F had one.

The long-neck water pump was introduced with the 2F in 1975, obviating the need for the spacer. Spacer was introduced in 1973, when the air pump was reintroduced, to help with clearance issues caused by the second drive pulley.

Form follows function.

I remember explaining to the warehouse guys at SOR a long time ago that they could differentiate early fan shrouds the same way: deeper cutout at the bottom for dual pulley balancers. None of them had noticed before.
