I've got the LC in the garage and was giving it a look over thinking I'm going to jump into the timing belt R/R.
I was going to move the fan blade and the whole thing slipped at the belt, totally locked up.
Now another thing on the timing belt R/R list!
Anyone else have problems with the fan clutch?

Had to have mine replaced at 150k. Overheated on the trail in July and had to run the heat the rest of the day... I lost a few pounds!

I don't think it's that uncommon if you have a bunch of miles.

Yea, I hear you, I've got a 195K on her now. I'm not too worried about it. Mine's not over heating~probably why it went unnoticed until now.
Yours must have failed to engage causing it to over heat?

When you remove it disassemble it and see how much fluid is left if any.

Or, you can get a variable speed controller and install an electric fan to free up a few ponies.
