Fan Bracket Failure

Probably time to replace the fan bracket when it starts to look like this.

Oh wow you're lucky the fan didn't come off and chop up everything else in there. How many miles?
 
199K Miles. Yeah - the serpentine belt came off so I had to pull off the road and get a tow home. I had heard an intermittent whine prior to the failure but thought it was coming from the power steering pump. I was actually returning from a road trip so had been driving for about 10 hours when it happened.

The back side of the bracket failed with bits of debris falling inside the timing belt compartment - so was probably lucky that nothing got caught up in the timing belt. The crank sensor was covered in metal shavings - as you can see in the picture below.

Since I was changing out the fan bracket, I did the timing belt, water pump, cam and crank seals etc.
