So on my back (and fro) from Kelowna, i took my usual cheapskate way to save 20 bucks at an extra 15-20 mins each way and took the toll booth bypass (because... I can!) No thru road my ass, ignore the signs! and contrary to one of the other signs stating its a unkept wilderness road, I think they grade it on occassion.
Anyhoo..I digress, my question is this....
When one is in the parking lot at Falls Lake, you can continue on up the hill to the right to take the bypass, or up the hill to the left that goes...where?
I followed the one on the left for quite a ways but finally turned around cuz well, no one knew where I was and my curiiousity on such trips usually gets me in trouble on such events. (that and this show a few nites back about this guy cutting his own arm off to escape a canyon in Utah...ughhhh still creeps me out).
The road im guessing is for gas line access, as there is quite a large swath of bush cut back and low. Some real nice views of the Coquihalla Canyon..the toll booth was wayyyyyyyy down there.
Second question...yes..second one!

There is a fork in the bypass road farther down. Staying right leads you back to the Coke lakes lodge..and left meanders way down the valley that you can see farther up. Anyone know where this might lead to?

Theres all sorts of little side roads off the Coke I really noticed this trip (3 or 4 around the 10 mile creek area), I guess its time I bought a backroads mapbook perhaps.

And/Or lets get some Coastal Cruiserheads together and explore!

So I put the knowledge of the bc4x4 board to the test...and got this back:

The information you seek is here!

At least some of it.
The road to the left, which is steep and rocky going up, is the pipeline
and comes out back at the Coquihalla, just down the road from the rest
stop at Zopkias Peak. In the trip report above, my Nissan would not make
it. So, on one of my many trips to the coast, I opted to see how well
the Dakota would do - We made it and then followed the pipeline all
the way back to the Coquihalla.

As for the Valley on the Merritt side of the Toll booth, it goes for a
ways and then comes to an abrubt stop at a creek with no bridge. It is
impassable. However on the day that we were there back in 1998, Greg Sue
decided to Pole Vault across to see the other side. A wet foot ensued
This could have changed, after all it is seven years since that trip and
the when I pass through there, I see lots of trucks heading down the
road, so logging being what it is, it may have reopened. Perhaps someone
should organize a trip. Those of us in the interior could meet you on
the back side of Zopkias.

So next time I'm up that way..I shall explore s'more!
