My owners manual has info about operating a winch; am I correct in assuming the US 60's never got that option?

Nope. HJ60s and 61 got this in just about every other market, along with 5-speeds, diesels, sliding rear windows.....

The list goes on and on.

Last time I checked, you could buy a factory PTO winch (complete setup) from SOR (specter off road). Don't remember the price...
