I've had a slow day at work and found myself looking into snorkels. My question is if any 100 owner has actually installed a factory snorkel? You might ask why when you can grab a proven safari snorkel would you get a factory one no one seems to use. Well there is just something about the 100 safari snorkel that bothers me, I cant quite place it but i think its mounting location sticks out too far and is too low, i prefer the lines of 70 and 80 series snorkels as far as mounting and general sexy looks. I know people have looked into them, but the threads have dead ended a long time ago as far as my searching can tell. Also does anyone have a picture of one mounted, all I could find was the parts diagram.

You might also like the TJM airtec snorkel.

Now we're talkin Monkey, thanks. That would be awesome if you could get a Safari type topper for it that would fit whatever size tubing the factory snorkel uses! Anyone ever put one on? Personally I think it look great. (minus the topper)

The OEM box fits on a 60 series Safari snork (exiled's find), so the diameters should be about the same. I priced out the OEm snork body and it's suprisingly affordable, shipping from Japan was the spendy part. Still, it was about equal to the Safari snorkel.

Hoser-

I like the looks of that one too, mixing and matching might be the way to go as the topper on the Safari snorkel just looks "right" to me. I know some are wondering why I'm putting so emphasis on aesthetics. I am because when I hack up my fender It better come out perfect!

Its good to see there are a few options out there. So has anyone actually installed the factory tube on a 100 though?? I dont think a template for the cutting really exists, correct? So I'm crossing my fingers for a 100 owner thats installed one to chime in on the installation process. Pictures too, cant have too many in a thread.

The OEM cyclonic intake also fits on the 100 series Safari snorkel with an adapter, I have one here waiting to go on the Cruiser. I'm shooting for this weekend.

I have shot a few emails back and forth with Dave at japan4x4 and hes been extremely helpful. I dont know timing wise but i think im going to attempt this here in the next couple months. I'm still a little nervous about cutting with no template for the factory tubing but hey, without risk, theres never a very big reward...

Trunk & Exiled-
Are you saying the OEM "ugly huge topper" for a 100 fits on the safari snorkel tubing on a 60? Implying the safari standard mouth would fit on the 100 series factory snorkel, or do I have that twisted around?

I'll have to run that by him again, either way im sure I can work it out. The details will of course be going on Mud first thing! Thanks again for the info guys, i'll update with any progress

I think there's a template that's an orderable part. I was working with Dave too when I was thinking about it and IIRC there was a template in the list.

I'm saying that the OEM cyclonic intake (see pictured) fits on the Safari snorkel (also pictured) with an adapter, I'm about to install it this weekend. I'll report back on any issues, but the snorkel is assembled and sitting on my workbench.
