I'm looking for a nice clean platform with factory lockers. Surface rust is acceptable, but rot is not acceptable. I'd prefer that it had approximately 150,000 miles or less. If its a nice truck, more miles may not be an issue

I'm willing to drive to check out a worthy vehicle, so if you're close to Jersey feel free to let me know if you have anything.

Thanks

Good luck with purchase. I just moved from NJ and it was very difficult to find a low rust specimen. As long as you have patience you'll find something. It may be worth it to find something west of the Mississippi to be honest. I got lucky with mine as mine must have been absolutely garage kept in PA as there was almost no rust not even surface. They're out there!!!

I'm also looking for 4runners to replace my 3rd gen which has been totaled. It was also garage kept and had only minor rust. Maybe I'll be lucky and find an 80. I at least have to try!

Yeah as long as you're patient and lucky just search craigslist often and be the first to get that email in. Good luck and monitor this thread! I love mine. My recommendation is to wait for an 80 with lockers don't cave on another 4runner. I've had both you won't be sorry waiting for the 80!

I may have a 4runner for sale in the next month or so 2003, v6, 98k, super clean southwest vehicle not a spec of rust on it. Not close to New Jersey unfortunately but everybody loves a road trip right?

I'm sorry as well to hear yours was totaled.
Thanks. It's even more of a shame because it had only 84k miles on it. I was gonna run it to 300k at least! The truck had a lot of adventure ahead of it. The thing still runs (Top Gear-Killing a 4Runner Part 1?) so maybe I'll hammer on the panels until I can find the gas cap again, remove all the crap hanging off, and keep driving it until insurance covers it. I can definitely part it out and make my money back if I buy it as a salvage title.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm looking for another 3rd generation 4runner (1996-2002). It sounds to me like you'll find a buyer rather quickly once you do decide to sell it though! 4th gens are great trucks.
