Was there ever a option with the HJ61s?

Ive seen 3-4 with it and its definately JDM only. I think it sort of ties in with most Japanese only using their cruiser as a recreational vehicle on the weekends.
It public transport for most of them Mon-Fri

Not sure if it was factory or aftermarket but I have seen a few of them and they all look very similar. I have even seen HDJ81s with the same setup. My HJ61 did come with a "Bedcruiser" emblem on the back that didn't quite look OEM, so I'm thinking that they might have been a kit.

the only camping kits i have seen were aftermarket installed by the dealer (similar to the warn winch and hub installs on the early 40 series)
i have yet to see any toyota stampings on them...
could be wrong though

Check out this rear barn door camping mod on a Nissan Patrol. Some guys have set it so that both doors have a drop-down table/bench which locks upright and is held horizontal with a wire cable. For this cooking set-up, I would recommend a heat shield for the sake of the door and window seals.

That is tre cool. Though I think I could build something a little more functional. I always wanted a jump seat in the way back to hang out on and cook, wash up, that flattens into a bed system. I think I'll work on that next. Thanks for the pics Rob!

Mine arrived like this:

It has a wooden box in the back, and when the rear seats are folded down the two "bed" parts slip over and lock in making a reasonable sized bed from someone 5'5 or shorter.

Anyone know where to get replacement propane for those stoves?

Are you sure it isn't a butane stove? If it is propane, you should be able to go to any gas stove fireplace shop and they will be ableto est you up with a hose and regulator for a 20lb or 40 lb tank.

The setup Rob pictured above is the standard Bedcruiser kit (you can even seen the logo on the counter top). I have the identical setup in my truck. As far as I know the kit comes with: a bed in 4 pieces (2 long boards that rest horizontal on a frame in the rear and 2 pieces that sit on the tops of the rear seats), a 2300kcal stove in an aluminum housing, dual plastic water tanks in an aluminum housing, a counter top with small sink, a manual hand pump faucet that suctions water from a water tank into the sink, a drain hose that routes waste water from the sink into the second water tank, and a drain plug.

The camping kits are most likely aftermarket, as I saw a Land Rover Discovery edition with the same kit at aution in Nagoya last week.

Does anyone have details on how the Bedcruiser setup (like Rob's) works in the front? My HJ61 came without the front panels that go on the rear seats and I'd like to make a few up. The only problem is that I don't know what they look like or understand how they're supposed to sit. I have the black bar that goes across the back of the seats, but I can't see how the attaches to the seat or how the panels sit on it? Pics, measurements, etc would be much appreciated. Thanks.

the bar attaches to the holly s*** handles above the back 2 doors via slings and the panels will sit on the bar...
super easy and you can adjust the height of the front panels if you don't want to lay perfectly flat...
