F engine dating 69 fj40 (1 Viewer)

The number I found on my block doesn't match the format that I saw for date codes on my engine. am I just reading it wrong?

I just found it, I misread where to look.

According to the VIN and engine # it looks like mine is a May 1969 production

Looks like you got it now. I was thinking you were looking at the wrong side of the block. @1969FJ posted a great pic for you. Good luck!

I am not sure if that is how the casting numbers work. I went off the date pages on CCOT.

That means it was manufactured late 5/69. Late April 69 engine could have it ways in to a late May 69 made cruiser.

it does seem to line up, I guess that makes it pretty certain that this is the original engine. Frame numbers match the body too.

ill have to look when I pull the battery, the plate next to it is hard to read with the battery there, im not sure what it says.

It will not have the engine serial number on it. Toyota dropped the engine serial number in the mid sixties.
