Extra wire off the Alternator (1 Viewer)

Man, I've searched thru pages and pages and havn't found it. A few weeks ago some one posted up that they added an extra wire to the alternator to the neg terminal. It helped keep the system more "regular", as in at idle the voltage read a higher reading...

Anyone know of this thread..it dint happen to long ago.

Have not read the thread, but instinctively this does not sound like a good idea. the only thing I can imagine is that this is an internally regulated alt, and the the ground from battery to block to engine is bad somewhere, and this compensates.

if the voltage is higher at idle the real regulator is shot.
