Exhaust ???

So I went by the muffler shop to inquire as to the price of a borla catback, and after I regained my bearings I asked if anything else I could do to make the V8 sound better. They said to cut the middle resonator off and replace it with a borla muffler and that should do the trick. Anyone heard of or done this to make the V8 sound beefier?

(2003 v8 auto hungie)My dad put pacemakers extractors with full 3" Mandrel bent stainless steel system with hi flow catalytic converter just after the pacemakers and high flow muffler at the rear got a amazing power perfomance for just a exhaust system. Its sounds mean and crisp az ,better than some of the ls1 and ls2 holdens i hear going around

Yeah I just want to be able to know it is a V8 not looking for like BB Chevy sound or anything. My friend has a borla system on his 4th gen 4runner with the 4.7 V8 and I like the way it sounds, would like mine to sound similar.

I replaced the OEM cat back exhaust and resonator with a Magnaflow muffler. Sounds very good, you know you have a V8 but its not too loud. Feels like I have a little more power and better mileage, but maybe that could be the mind trying to justify the cost, which was only $250 installed--not a bad investment. Its amazing how huge the OEM muffler and resonator are when they are off the vehicle, compared to the Magnaflow.

you could save the $ and just look at your fuel economy to be reminded you have a V8...or floor it everywhere...

$250 for a cat-back installed is a pretty good deal, especially if you've seen any noticeable gains besides noise levels.

The Borla is tame. Loud and I have the Borla Cat-Back and we cut the muffler and resonator off and replaced it with an SLP muffler.

jmarlo, you got a soundclip or vid of your exhaust notes? If so, that'd be a great help to those considering your route.

I also thought about doing Borlas w. elec. cutouts just not sure which way I wanna go.

Go with the Flowmaster, Inc. that's what i got and they sound great! i'm running dual flowmasters 40 series.

Did you get the Borla S-Type or Turbo model exhaust?

Yeah i'm still alive....but my LC is not doing too well! lol My Mc went out and a few other things! So i have the LC Up for sale at this time. The exhaust i'm running is flowmasters and that's all i run on my rides. Love that deep throaty sound i get with those mufflers. i hate to get rid of my ride but i think it"s time for me to move on.......
