Had a Magnaflow 23120 y-pipe installed on my 1997 LX450 about a month ago. Custom stainless catback after the y-pipe. Can’t get the cat-back system to come off the frame after the cat (over-the-the frame routing) and piping is tight against heat shield above rear axle- constant contact. I thought maybe the old exhaust bracket off the bell housing was preventing the system from fitting right, but tonight I removed all the rubber exhaust cushions and loosened all the clamps and can’t get clearance at the 2 points mentioned above. I’m trying to figure out where I’m off. Would anyone with the Magnaflow y-pipe be willing to gather some comparison measurements for me? I’m wondering what the measurement is from: 1) the top of the back of the valve cover (highest aluminum part of cover- not the plastic spark plug channel cover) to the bottom of the cowling? 2) the passenger flange edge of the Magnaflow cat to the bottom of the rocker panel pinch weld. I’ve attached pics of these two reference measurements and how the y-pipe was riding against my bell housing bracket before I removed it. Something’s off. I’m just trying to figure out where from folks that are successfully running the Magnaflow y-pipe. My system may be hanging a bit low. I might grab another 23120 and install it myself. Anyone had fitment issues with the 23120? Thanks in advance.
