I'm having trouble removing the lower cover of the evaporator core, I have removed five screws (red circles) and two clips (blue) as shown, but it still seems attached somewhere back at the firewall? What am I missing?

You're going to have to pull it out to split it. There are more fasteners on the side facing the firewall.
 
Thanks, does that mean I have to disconnect the refrigerant hoses, etc? I'm wanting to clean the coils.
