Evap codes, low AND high flow?!?

Smoke test today didn’t show anything. So seems like it’s the canister, or the filter. I suppose I could try to swap the filter first, or just do both and be done with it.

Given how dusty the filter is in that earlier photo, does anyone think we should be trying to baffle that to cut down on the dust?

I’m also wondering the likelihood it gets saturated with water either during a crossing or just in heavy rain. Normally I assume the spare might help protect the filter from rain but with it being on my rear bumper I wonder how much that matters

Thanks, is that part of the charcoal canister assembly or somewhere else in the system?
I don't know where it is but it was an easy fix according to the shop.

It is attached by hose to the charcoal canister. You'll see it near the spare location and near the charcoal canister, bolted to the body.

What I understand, this is a paper filter. Though I hasn’t cut it open to check it out. Iirc, I don’t know that you even have to run with this attached.

Remove your rear pax wheel and then the rearward wheel well trim piece. Lots of 10/12mm and random trim piece varietals to remove. Should be somewhere near there iirc. But mine is not stock anymore given my LRA tank.

The paper filter was dusty but the charcoal canister was very heavy compared to the replacement, as if it had absorbed a bunch of fuel

This has mirrored my experience too. I can’t speak for unmodified 200s, but can say my cc was nuked without incorrect plumbing or filling after the nozzle “click” with my LRA.

I don’t have an aux tank. But I do tow which results in the rear of the truck squatting a bit. I don’t know if that angle combined with filling up with gas (I never top off, except possible accidentally at a slow pump in Wyoming last summer) is the culprit, or the fuel boiling I had in Moab two summers ago, or just age

I have a the 40 gallon LRA tank. The shop knew exactly where to go and I told him the issue and the dealer in Bozeman had to part on the shelf.

I have a 40 too. I'm sure they're plumbed similarly. If they're not, I'd be interested to hear where they put it as now I am remembering it actually being bolted to the body panel under there.

I believe it was in the stock location as there was no mention of any difficulty changing it. The tech broke it open and it was filled with dust and dirt. I do drive a lot off road.

Is this the right part number for the charcoal canister? (2013-2015 MY)

25% off for Black Friday

I think so? You need to order the filter too as that’s a separate part and the filter gets quite dirty

Found my receipt with the parts, you want both.

Thanks. As a PSA, you need to be careful with part numbers on emissions related parts. Generally the part numbers for parts are the same for 2013-2015 but for the charcoal canister assembly the 2015 has a different number the 2013.

Just ordered from Sierra. Great Black Friday 25% off. Got canister assembly and filter for $421 shipped.

I wonder how different they are.

I got screwed on the cost, but as you know I had a lot going on at the time and just neeeed it fixed. Now I have time and driveway full of snow this morning.

I've had the random P2420 that usually comes for a short visit each Spring and then goes away.
Was driving down to SC a few weeks ago. Was driving for 5-6 hours and then hit a decent bump or pothole on I-95 and dashboard lit up w lights and the see dealer message. Shortly before that, I ran the main tank to near empty (more so than usual) and started filling it back up from the LRA 24. Coincidence ?

This time around it was several evap codes instead of only P2420. Trying to figure out what triggered it. Low main tank, hitting a big bump and jarring something on the LRA tank and wiring harness to the canister?

A few days later, went to the Relic Run in NC. Started the truck up one morning and had all these codes again. Reset and on with it.
They came back again a few days ago. I think I got 360 miles since last reset.

@linuxgod - I see your repair notes don't mention anything about the wiring harness. Just the filter and canister replacement. I've been leaning towards a corroded or damaged wiring harness on the canister but not the case with yours....

I looked at my K&N filter behind the rear passenger wheel well and it was in good shape, passed air freely, not the least bit clogged. Cleaned up and buttoned everything back up.

Yep mine was just a canister (and filter) swap. The harness was untouched. My canister was HEAVY with water or something.

I got a list like that when the connection cable to the evap canister had a broken power wire

In your case it’s probably a loose connector or connection

I picked up a new improved borescope today (disregard time stamps, need to set the correct date). Took some pics with the LRA tank still mounted.

I'm leaning towards a damaged wiring harness.

Connection to CC below:

I can't quite spot a broken wire but that harness between the tank and frame looks mangled.
Only way to confirm is drop the tank.
I sure as heck hope the LRA 24 is much easier than the 12 gal version @Romer wrestled with. (maybe that's why Slee quit doing that version. BTW - Slee did my install).

I only want to do this once. Parts on hand and will show on next post.
