I swapped 5 speed and Tcase from a BJ60 into my 81 BJ42. When I connected my speedo cable I found my indicated speed a lot higher than normal(30km/h=100km/h) and jumpy. I wondered if there was a problem with the gearing for the Speedo on the tcase or rear end(4.11 vs 3.73)?
Anyone have this problem when doing a swap like this? The instrument cluster with speedometer is from the 24 volt BJ42 and worked normally with the original trans and tcase. Perhaps it’s from sitting for so long as the project stalled.
Any help or tips where to look for more info would be appreciated!
