While its possible to do it on a 3 wheeled cheapie, its not recommended its too easy to tip over. Even the cheap 4 wheeled stands are barely adequate because the pivot arrangement sucks and it is difficult to turn the engine over without two people. Spend an extra hundred bucks and get a stand that's safe and functional. Even if you'll never use it again, it'll have some resale value unlike the cheap ones.

I parted out a 2F and an F on a four wheel ("U" shape) 1250lb engine stand. It was a little springy so I would not go with a 750lb or 1000lb one if you plan to do the rebuild on the stand.

Turning the engine over isn't easy but it is possible with one person.

Those are HEAVY engines. Make sure that you're mounting bolts have a decent bite into the block. You'll need to find the right metric bolts.

I usually hold mine in my left hand and rebuild it with my right. Bwahahahaha. Oh... that wasn't funny. Sorry.

As long as you remember to break the crank nut using the starter you can do it on a 1000lb, 4 wheel stand. If you dont you will need a STRONG impact wrench to break the nut.
