My wagon starts fine, but it's developed a problem of not shutting off - pull the key out, all electrical is off and all I can do is stall it to stop it, OR pop the hood and pull this manual lever to off. It's at the end of a small piston like thing, right-rear of the engine, just below the injectors.

Can you tell I am not a gear head? Local mechanic says it "must be the starter" but I am skeptical.

Any thots?

Something is not quite right w/ the injection pump. Either the stop solenoid is sticky or the EDIC motor is sticking. Either way, I don't think it could have any connection to the starter.

Hey Jim,

If you don't mind - what's the EDIC motor?

Thanks!

Jim - thanks a lot. Is it sticking because it's worn out, or can I do something simple myself to resurrect it?

Much appreciated.
