I have a 1993 with 177k miles on it. I have been having a problem lately when I hit the accelarator aggressively. If I ease in to the pedal there is no problem if I hit it fast and hard the engine seriously stutters and comes close to stalling. If I ease off the pedal and try again more slowly it's fine. This sometimes happens at a steady speed on long uphill climbs at freeway speeds. It has also been a little slow to start regardless of the engine being hot or cold. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to what could be causing this and how to fix it.

Thanks, Ryan

Check the air intake hose for cracks.

Ditto. You have 99% probability of having a cracked intake hose (the corregated hose from the air filter to the throttle body). You may not be able to see it easily, but the crack is likely on the bottom; the torque of the engine on acceleration will cause the crack to open and screw with your ECU.
