Was wondering what weight of oil all you guys in the frigid north run in the engine during the winter? Thanks.

CHEAP for full synthetic and it works great. It is a really good oil...it is a fleet oil so if you are stuck you can put it in gassers

This is my biggest concern, that's why I haven't used syn. in the cruiser. I waited till the first 5000mi before going synthetic in the Taco and have used it in it since then. The reason I am asking is that my exhaust kind of looks like it has a slight blue tint to it, but can't really tell for sure, of course being as cold as it has, you see you exhaust all the time while engine is running.
If you are really burning oil, then you will be needing to add a significant amount to top up your oil pan between oil changes.[\quote]
what do you mean by "a significant amount", i.e. how many km per litre added.
Stone said:I would venture a guess that if you're adding a liter or more between oil changes, and there's no significant leaks on your engine, that it would be an indicator that you're burning a good amount of oil.
I'm fairly sure that the XD3 is a synthetic oil, and not a synthetic blend. But I'll check again.
M John Galt said:Keep in mind that an oil can be sold as "semi synthetic" with as little as 15% synthetic. If one wants a 50% synthetic to save money then it's best to mix it yourself.
