Drove up to Northern NM to pick up a 1F engine.

So here is what I know. It looks to be a pre 68 based on the block serial number.

I can't figure out the date code. The first digest looks like an arrow the 1 20 6.

The harmonic balanced does not have a nut on it and looks like it has to be pressed in.

The head is missing the front most exhaust mount for the manifold. The weird thing is that it looks to have the smog ports which I don't think we around that early

It has a dual runner intake that seems like it would point to 67''68 vintage

I'll post pictures below and maybe the experts can shed light.

Thanks
Ernie

Nice score on the 1F. Are you going to be at the October meet-up?

The head is 11111-60030, so it seems to be a 1F head, but it's strange it has smog ports

I’m guessing Dec 6, ‘67 (I think that’s a buggered up 7 at the front, really the only number with a slanted part like that).

I sold a an F engine painted blue like that a couple years or so ago in Northern New Mexico. Can’t remember who I sold it too but if it is the same, that engine came out of a 69 FJ40. That said, I don’t know for sure that it was the original engine from that 40, sorry to long ago. Might not even be the same engine I sold, so take that for what it is worth.

I found my old for sale add, it is the engine I sold in 2017. I am not saying I am correct about the year but my for sale add was as accurate as the information I was given from the previous owner. To add some more information my add link is:

Engine serial numbers match so it looks like he did in fact buy your old engine.

Thanks everyone.

I think the mystery is solved.
It's a model year 1968 engine which seems to be a California usage based on the smog ports in the head.

It's funny because it's new home will be in a 69 titled FJ40, which was actually built in May 1968, so it's actually a 68 model that was titled in 69.
