Engine cradle for transport

I have to transport a 5.7/NV4500 on a 3 and a half hour drive and am looking for suggestions for simple cradles to keep it still on its trip.

I have transported alot on top of used tire.

Every time I've used a tire, it collapses over time and the straps holding the engine get loose and the whole thing goes to hell.

How complicated do you want to make it? Here's a pic of a GM crate. You can make a simpler version, using a pallet.
