Our 08 200 often goes into a slow to accelerate mode, lighting up almost every light on the dash, which requires disconnecting the battery to reset. Once resetted, car starts, but occasionally dies after first start after reset...then will start..... often with a very low idle until driven a mile or so when everything starts working again....

any ideas other than it’s an electronics issue? Perhaps a fuel pump or injection pump/system issue?

just would like to have an idea before we take it in to dealership for diagnosing. Never have bought a decoder either....

worked on and been around cars my whole life..... but electronics is another thing.

The need to start 2 times after a reset and the temporarily low idle after reset are ok. Your best bet to get an idea of what's going with the lights and symptoms prior to dealer visit is to get pretty much any OBDii reader and get the codes. Nothing fancy needed and if you've worked on cars your whole life it's way past time you got a code reader! They are cheap and can be found everywhere. Once you have the codes, post back with the list and maybe someone can help. Gas cap tight and have a good gasket?

So many times have I meant to buy a OBD scanner..... so nows a perfect reason. More than likely a relatively easy repair.... but with the miles, no surprise.

will update once scanned

Limp mode. You'll need a scanner or techstream to get a CEL code for us to help you diagnose.

Note that safe mode could be as dumb as minor sensor related things to serious engine degrading faults. Best not to keep driving on it and get a read on the codes causing it.
