Bought an 85 with 1999 Vortec conversion, tidy work, runs like a top. PO did not install AC compressor as he lives in Oregon.

I'm in Arizona, so...

I installed the OEM compressor, went to charge the system and everything died.

PO used Howell wiring harness for the engine swap.

Howell suggests I need to connect the AC to factory 'chassis' harness.

Anyone have any ideas or insight?

What engine exactly?

Was Denso compressor native to the vortec
I was assuming you used a oem vortec compressor. adapting a 60 oem denso would be really difficult. Different pulley, bracket etc.
Sorry for the confusion. If all the original 60 a/c amplifier and electrics are still there, it would have to be hooked up to the original 60 wiring . Although the idle-up system will be different with the vortec.

Have a look here FJ60 V8 Conversion A/C ? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj60-v8-conversion-a-c.153125/ for some info

You can look at the actual Chevy wiring diagrams here: LT1 Swap - http://www.lt1swap.com/

Brendan is a helpful and knowledgeable guy and he can probably get you on the right track.
