Unless you want the new hatch or them to do the repair, Tell them you want the cost of the repair / hatch / whatever paid for in oil and filters, including air filters.

I can hear the dealer's reply already...

It was like that already

Update:

Sent a thorough email this morning and i just got off the phone with the service manager.

They were super apologetic and it was in fact the shop foreman which i trusted so much that admitted to doing this...
Im getting a check sent out for the rear touch up (i will be doing this myself, so give me your advice here)
The new $200 battery fully paid for a camera swap and a road force balance at a location of my choosing.

They assure me that while they ****ed the camera mount panel up, the wheels are torqued to spec and they have the logs.
Lesson ****ing learned man. Im never doing this again voluntarily.

Believe it or not this is the second time something like this happened to me with this truck.
First time was at the purchase dealer Northpark Lexus in San Antonio.
That ordeal got me new brake job, new rotors, pads, a credit card remote, and all weather mats front rear and cargo and a $300 full interior detail.

You too can play the dealer lottery kids!

Not sure about you, but rear touch up paint etc……i rather get body shop to do that. Why waste your (valuable) time? Body shop is great for paint matching etc..

Is there vibration in your tires/wheels? Why roadforce if it rides fine? Did i miss that in your post?

Yes the paint your are right about, but i can cover that area with the trim housing panel. Its the dents and specially where they are i don’t want to get into a hole with. The manager and i both agreed that is begging for trouble. He was fine with me sealing it up on my own and paying me for my troubles, avoiding another liable entity in the mix and me giving them my truck again.

On the wheels yes but since they are playing ball i will balance and then inspect. I am thinking they impacted my lugs on and either something on my wheel is out of shape or studs were stretched but they assure me thats not the case. It could well be a coincidence though from rotation or jus t a tire wearing oddly. The last torque application I performed has held fine for a few miles so the balance shall reveal any further issue.

You are too kind. I would not have taken anything less then the cost of a new hatch and paint and install. Up to you if you want to actually use that money to have the work done or keep it as compensation. Touch up my butt. That’s blantent abuse of your rig and clearly an attempt to sweep it under the rug.

If it were visible in any way whatsoever thats what would have happened. The way it is, i would not sign up for such an intrusive job. It would have either been at the dealer or some random collision place i have no experience with. Im not happy about it but i didnt want to sign up for any of that either. The only thing I would have wanted in that case was to do it myself and thats just not really feasible even for me.

The whole thing sucks and im in shock that the master tech shop foreman that i trust and drive across town to personally request is the one who did it. I agree with you but imagine the taste that is in my mouth, i dont want to deal with “car people” for a good long while. The crowd of hard heads here on MUD is enough for me LOL.

The other thing is i was given assurances and continued support that if any issue was to reliably stem from this they would cover it. I made sure to inform them the call was going to be recorded. I have a lot of these type of recordings. Im not that nice 😊
