Electrical gremlin... windows, locks, mirrors (1 Viewer)

Lately I've been having issues with my windows, door locks and power mirrors not working. Here are the symptoms;

What works;
Driver window
Sunroof
Key fob unlock/lock
(Also all of the doors unlock when I open the door)

What does NOT work;
All passenger windows (they were working intermittently before but now none of them work)
Door locks from any panel (Sometimes I can unlock the doors but can never lock them)
Side view mirror controls

Has anyone had any problems like this with your GX or 4th gen 4runner? Seems like it could be a faulty ecu. Plan on removing the door this weekend to inspect everything.

Any help would be appreciated before Im forced to pay the $100 diagnosis fee at Toyota!

Not sure about the mirrors or the locks but the windows need to be reset every time the battery is disconnected. Side view mirror control on mine is intermittent. I have taken apart the mirrors and cleaned and regreased the gears but no improvement.

Have you had the battery disconnected recently? How old is the battery? Battery terminals clean? Figured I would point out the more obvious easy things first. Battery ground is another easier thing to check before paying someone to look at it.

Ah yes I know about the window trick with the battery, not that. Battery is a Toyota 84 month that is less than a 9 months old, terminals are clean. Im thinking it a loose connection somewhere, fingers crossed.

@Scat Adams ever resolve the mirror control issue? Just got a 2003 and the controls to adjust side mirrors are not working.

Most likely not the issue as your traction control lights and airbag lights were not lite on your dash. But check your ECU-B fuse (fuse box under the hood). Mine blew this weekend; there is a TSB out for the side view mirrors blowing a fuse when auto tilt while in reverse in set. When the fuse blows door locks (from panel and FOB) do not work, clock resets, no mirror adjustment, no rain sensor windshield wipers.

I have been looking everywhere for this TSB and cannot find it. My Lexus dealer cannot find it. Can you help me?

That doesn’t say anything about blowing a fuse, not any of the airbag or VSC warning lights.

That is the fix, not the description of every way it presents itself. The actuator and ECU are the fix. The symptoms are the mirrors won't tilt properly, as the actuator is failing and the ECU is not controlling it correctly. If the fuse blows it is because of excessive load (controlled by the ECU). The fuse blowing results in your symptoms because of the linked systems.

Lexus dealer says it's the left mirror actuator that needs to be replaced, not the ECU. I did make them aware of the TSB and pointed out that it says the opposite. They want $400 for the job ($175 for parts and $225 for labor).

Just buy the part and do it yourself. It is super easy.

Just bought a 04 GX 470, and the mirror failed today. Funny enough, the LH mirror was working fine when I bought it the other week. RH was missing an axis, but I presumed this was something I could fix. Hoping this isn't a sign of more to come.
