Years ago we moved fuel tank to rear of rig, it's a much longer line than when it was under passenger seat..
We've needed to pour a little gas in carburetor to start if it hasn't been run for a while.
If we install an electric fuel pump in line before the mechanical pump will it cause problems?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks,

Sounds like you need(Ed) to check your accelerator pump on the carb. Does the carb have fuel through the sight glass before you crank it?
A mechanical pump should have no issue pulling fuel from a rear tank to your carb.

An FJ60 has a much longer fuel line with only a mechanical pump

To answer your question...adding a electric fuel pump before the mechanical pump will cause no issues. Plenty of folks do this in older rigs.

Then there is ebay #264701886687 for your rear tank- - -easy deal.

Thanks for the responses. Goin to Town to try to get an electric pump today, will post if we have issues.

Check out post # 3 in "THIS" thread.

@Derf62 you can use a low press pump and a return filter and bypass the fuel pump.
or rebuild your fuel pump. Your fuel pump is not holdingback flow and it draining back to your tank.

Found that we need a flow-thru fuel pump.
Most electric in-line pumps block fuel when shut off.
Carter pump recommend their #P74021 ($33 Amazon) to prime a carburetor.
Will install with a toggle switch and give it a try.
