So I got started on the de-smog process today. Functionally it is complete. Cosmetically I still lack a bit. I am waiting on my intake gasket and plugs to remove the air injection manifold and all the now extraneous vacuum lines. I'm also going to cut the tube off the air cleaner and put a plate over the hole.

The difference is very noticeable. Smooth running and idling. Acceleration is also much better.

Now that I have all this empty space under the hood, I am getting ideas. Dual batteries is the first thing that comes to mind. I could also mount a power steering pump where the smog pump used to be for a hydro-assist brake booster.

I also fixed my exhaust leak today, and in the process created a potential future one. I may or may not have stripped one of my O2 sensor studs. It isn't leaking now, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. The good news is my wife says it no longer sounds like a lawn mower.

Since I was on a roll, I also started removing the fender flares and other stuff so I can sand her down and shoot it with a nice thick coat of Liner Xtreeme. I'm going with desert tan and the flares and trim will be black.

Really want to Delete my EGR system, but in VA the vehicle has to be 25 years old to be exempt from Emissions testing... guess I have to wait until 2022... :bang:

Did you install resistor or find the Check Engine Light Comforting?

Actually the idiot light came on the first time I cranked it, then went off and hasn't reappeared. Granted it has only been one day, but I have driven it about 45 miles in five or six short trips to the store, to my dad's, to the farm, etc.
