Since the upper bumper assembly is discontinued for 40 rear tire carriers pre-9/1976, I dug through my stash of OEM bits and found something that will be a direct fit and work perfectly: 70 series hood bumper.

Same size, same thread pitch/diameter, and available from your local Toyota dealer for less than $7.00

Hope it helps someone out in the future.

Thanks, it is useful !

Actually I had noticed that Cityracer was selling this hood bumper as a replacement for the tire carrier but when I searched for the partnumber I only found the discontinued one.

Weirdly 53382-90K01 is not referenced at all in the European equivalent of TPD/Amayama...

EDIT: few people have reached out and said this was common knowledge.

If not useful, I’ll delete.

This is some of the best (i.e. useful) tech in a while on this forum. Don’t delete.

I was unaware and will probably need this on my '72 so this is extremely helpful! Keep it!

This is great info and well appreciated. 👍🍻🥃🥃

Great information. Please do not delete.👍

Thanks @OGBeno I just ordered one from the local Toyota dealership, it’s about eight bucks.

Is there anything off the 70 series that will quiet the voices in my head?
