I did a lot of searching but couldn't find an answer. SOR shows two steering box pedestals, 58 to 67 and 68 to 72. Also three steering boxes, 58 to 67, 68 to 69, and 70 to 72. Is anyone familiar with the differences and compatabilities among these model years?

I have a stock 64 fj40. Will a 72 box mount to the 64 pedestal? Will the external bits (3 speed shifter, steering wheel, etc) be compatible?

Thanks, Eric

the early steering box mounted differently than thee later box, it uses a different pedestal, the 2 cannot be interchanged

If you are looking for a steering wheel I’ve got one off my ‘69...36 spline.

Thanks for the offer, but mine is good. Just wondering if it would work with the later box.

If you need your ‘64 steering box rebuilt, I still service them, and have everything short of an extra worm gear to make it happen.

Thanks Mark. I need to take it out of the rig to repair a crack in the steering column.
