Do you do these by order only or do you have extras with a core replacement? I plan to do mine but I may want to save time.

Give me the shot in the arm... How much?
I have a 69-72 almost finished, with yours as a trade I would do 200. What about your horn button and “Toyota “ emblem?

Without a trace I usually charge 375-450 + shipping.

I've done the ring. I'm leaving the emblem as is since the entire truck is either re painted, re plated, or blasted. My truck is a 3/70 so the one you're doing would be good.

Here's my version for this truck. It matches all the new hardware.

I degrease, repair all visible cracks and go over it with a magnifier to find future cracks and repair those before they get worse. Refresh body lines (like the circle around the hub) prime, paint, clear coat and buff.

PS: a lot of heavy grit sanding will be required. I’ll show more tomorrow after the epoxy sets up.
The black primer showed me the bad spots,
But you can see how the the wheel will come out perfect.

@Birdhead This has been one of my favorite threads for a while now. I've always had it in the back of my head that my steering wheel needed attention some day and that day came on Saturday. I pulled the column to do the power steering conversion and as I was bolting stuff back up I got thinking about the wheel itself.

I LOVE the look of the older wheels silver center horn button. Unfortunately I have a '74. My biggest issue are the contacts attached to the 3 horn buttons. The spring steel is rusted and they are all broken. Do you have any advice for how to go about fixing that? The wheel itself has some expected scratches but is basically crack free.

Do you restore the newer wheels as well?

Yes I have restored a few, I may have some of those parts at the house, I’ll check when I get home.

I keep an eye out for cheap wheels for parts all the time, I’ll start looking for a cheap one if I don’t have the parts.

You've got a PM waiting for you...

Latest two.
