The Body and frame got sent to blasting. The body and parts got epoxy primed at the blasters but the frame got a marine primer when it got back to the shop. Surprisingly the body came back very clean and the steel was very good except for some places that needed some attention. The fenders needed attention so did the rear quarter panels which had seen a small collision at some point and the rear drop-down door. But all in all the body was solid.

more pictures of the chassis after blasting and marine primed. She cleaned up well except for some minor cracks on body mount plates which got fixed and driver side shock tower which had been modified to allow for an aftermarket steering setup at some point in its history. More on that later.

While deciding on what to do with here mechanically Seb called me one day and said he had come across a half-cut Japanese import fire truck while out at the junkyard. He said this would be a good candidate to bring this truck to the future in terms of drivability as I plan on making it my daily. So we bought the half-cut to gut it out to use the complete drivetrain from a low mileage Japanese import fire truck. The donor truck was a 1990 fj75. So we used both axles which are discs upfront, 3F Engine with 21,000 Km on her, 5 speed H55f Gearbox and transfer case.

What Seb advised and I agreed was that its all plug and play mostly. So the F Motor and 3 speed and axles got put into storage.

Probably the 2nd hardest decision on any restoration is what to do with the dash. Wanted to keep it factory looking but needed more functionality from it. liked the idea of having in-dash AC vents, some additional AC knobs and USB options.
Well now that it was becoming a restomod that made the decision easier. We would cancel all unwanted options and add new ones.

Ended up finding some cool AC vents that I had to have.

Bought a set of 4 pcs of the Round Aircraft Style Aluminium Vent from Bret at Autoware.com.au - Part Number 45-1611 - $169 a pop

Whats nice about these is they are both volume and direction controlled by the simple rotation of the bezel.
