Step 1: Want a cupholder but be too lazy to go get one from the auto parts store.

Step 2: Bend one up and weld it to the soft door bar.

Step 3: Realize as the welds are cooling that the window will hit it when unzipped and scratch said window all to hell.

Step 4: Swear loudly.

Step 5:

Hi All:

Hey, looks like a good design to me! The folded-in window helps keep crap out of your beverage! :D

Seriously, your welds look good! I have done far dumber fab work!!

Regards,

Alan

I used to have the following Homer Jay Simpson quote in my sig line:

"Trying is the first step toward failure"

Nothing that a grinder and cut-off wheel cant take care of!

Add a zipper to the door fabric so's you can unzip, flip open around the cool cupholder and rezip in the down position...it's not a mistake it's a design feature! :hillbilly:

Step 1: Punch 2 holes in door fabric
Step 2: Mount cup holders on outside of door
Step 3: Problem solved :D

As some other people have mentioned, couldn't you cover it with some padding or Plasti-dip? I wish I was lucky enough to have cupholders, but with the way my cruiser rides the cup would bounce right out of it.
