I tackled some more TLC and maintenance: I measure the valve clearances a few weeks ago and figured out the shims I needed. After a couple weeks, the shims finally arrived and I was able to get the valve clearances back to spec. Things weren’t too far off, but not perfect. Honestly this was a really fun job.

While I was in there I also:
- new OEM valve cover gasket
- new OEM intake / crossover pipe gasket
- new OEM throttle cable assembly
- I repainted the valve cover silver
- new OEM oil cap

*measurements and shims needed pictured below*

Motor now runs smoother and quieter. No more quiet ticks or anything. Duke has never fun better.

I haven’t been happy with the grip of the Herculiner bedliner on the platform, I’m testing some carpet! I didn’t glue it, but I did staple it down, so it is fully reversible. The carpet is just outdoor carpet from the hardware store. Very cheap. I love the look! Matched the tailgate really nicely now.

Looks great Bryce. Do you use the tail gate to cook, or prep food? We made the hatches from food grade stainless, so it's our prep/serve station. We clean it with windex before every use, so can lay the food on it. Saves us time instead of setting up a table when on the move. Also, total cost was less then $200 at the time. Not sure what price of stainless is today. Just a thought... :)

Chipping away at the Campteq. I spent day 01 cutting and grinding away the old sikaflex… wow that was a chore. But it is clean now. I have decided to keep the top bare aluminum. I am saying with a random orbital sander and hitting it lightly with re scotch brite. Looks amazing!

Recently did some regular maintenance and servicing:

- Oil change w/ OEM filter (Shell Rotella 15w40 + Liquimoly Ceratec)
- New OEM fuel Filter
- Front and Rear Diff Oil Change (Liquimoly 75w90 Hypoid Gear oil)
- Transfer Case oil change (Amsoil 75w90 gear oil)
- H151f Transmission oil change (Ravenol MTF-1)

All of these fluids were recommended by Cape Transmissions in South Africa.

Great to see the preventive maintenance!

One suggestion I’ve seen around the forums that I don’t see is Liqui Moly’s Diesel Purge in the new fuel filter. It takes a whole can and then still some pushing to fill the rest with the diesel. Any consideration on that?

Cheers!
