DS lock mechanism spring (1 Viewer)

OK, so the DS door recently stuck locked and shut. Could not open from inside or outside, even while pulling up on the lock post. We removed the door card and fiddled with it to finally get it open. it looks like a spring is broken. This weekend we will remove the lock mechanism and replace the spring. Has anyone replaced this spring? any details on what spring you used and where you got it? thanks.

Yup.

When the same thing happened on my 80 series, I just got a little spring assortment pack from the local hardware store and used the one that fit best. That was over 20 years ago, so basically a permanent fix.

Try a TOYOTA Hood latch Release spring , many are availble as stand alone parts '

Thanks for the help. I was able to find one at the local Ace that I could clip shorter and bend a hook in to match pretty well. Lock mechanism is working great now!
