The wife is using her fathers car and after dumping a container of it in his gas tank...........he jumped her s*** over it.

:confused:I was always under the impression dry gas being mostly alcohol(in different forms of course) was good for water....etc etc in tanks but he is claiming dry gas will gel your injectors and such.

Is this claim valid?

Potentialy cause an issue with some of the seals in the FI system if it is an older car.

And it apparently can cause issue with the mixture.. O2 sensors have a hard time with it..

:whoops:Oh boy and i have been using this stuff for years

I would not be too worried..

Besides, my reply was based on what I have heard.. Not any practical experience ;)

From what I understand, (from a few mechanics) the Methonyl (sp?) Alcohol dry gas is bad for a modern FI car/truck because it causes problems with seals, injectors, etc, however the Isopropol Alcohol dry gas is perfectly fine and it works very well. I have been using Isopropol dry gas for at least 10 years in my FI cars/trucks and not one hint of problems. In fact I used it in my Maxima yesterday, and it is perfect!

I actually was wondering what the difference between E85 and Dry gas was....

E85 is 85% Ethanol (not methanol), and 15% gasoline. Not sure what Dry Gas uses, if it's methanol or isopropyl alcohol. I never actually buy the stuff from the auto parts store, but instead just go to the pharmacy and buy 100% isopropyl alcohol (though I have not needed to in quite a long time, and don't know how easy it is to find anymore). It's usually cheaper. Just make sure it is 100%, and not just plain ol' rubbing alcohol, as rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol, but only 20%.

And I try to use Malco Isopropol Dry gas, it is a great product.
