Is it ok to drive on highway with hubs in locked posistion? Always assumed not but wondering why? In case slips into 4wd?

With the transfer case in 2hi, there really isn't a problem as long as you don't have a locker in the front diff. For many years, the FJ didn't come from the factory with selectable hubs - they were added on by the dealerships to replace the drive plates. The only detrimental effect is that you've got more rolling resistance (= lower gas mileage), and more wear on the seals and moving parts of the front axle.
