I know this is a 100 thread, but I accidentally tested my new cdl switch on my 80 today and managed to make a nice tight turn into my driveway. I got about three loud pop/bang sounds before I got it stopped and hit the switch to disengage it. No grinding on the next turn to park, but I'm wondering what damage I might have caused. This was about 10 mph max.

Sound was most likely tires hoping & binding on pavement. Drive with CDL disengaged and if feels good don't worry.

Okay sure test AWD vs 4wd. Lift just 1 tire off the ground put it in gear drive forward very slowly AWD wheel spins car goes no where. Same thing diff locked drive slowly forward it will move 4wd.

Also, the reason the CDL can be engaged in 4hi is because you can drive up to 50mph with it locked. Will not hurt anything have been doing it for years with zero problems have 100k plus on same transfer case do it a lot in the winter and heavy rain fall. Never had an issue.
