I finally broke down and decided to do a brake upgrade on my '64. Scored some '76 axles for a decent price but my original driveshafts don't fit them (too small). I'm still running my original 1f and three speed tranny, however, I do plan to do a 350 swap with a sm465- some day. My question is:

  1. Can I just change out the flange that connects to the new '76 axle or do I need to find the '76 driveshafts?
  2. If I can just switch the flange, does anybody know where I can get the new replacements?
As always, thanks for the help.

get the 76 slip yokes and put the shafts in backwards or if i remember right the 65 flanges will fit the 76 axle.

You can get new flanges for the axels that will have both bolt patterns. You just need to swap the flanges.
