Another dumb question from a newbie putting back together a 67 FJ40 full frame off. Thanks to all that have helped so far.
I've searched and cant find this one. Swapped 3 spd for four speed and swapping out the short end of my drive shafts onto the used correct length shafts that came with the kit, splines were little rusty. One went on fine, the other would not go on at all so I wire brushed the male spine to remove the rust and it went on part way and then I tried to hit it on ( I know, dumb move) and now its stuck........any suggestions?

Thanks

It probably has old grease pushed up into the female end. Digging that out with a long screw driver might help.

Just saw that it was stuck. Did you try tapping it back with a hammer.
Maybe remove grease nipple and see if any old grease comes out...

Thanks for the input, I ended up bolting boards to both ends of the drive shaft and putting a 2x3 between the boards on one side and a porta power on the other end and pushed it off. The bigger deal was to get it to slide on. I took a dremel with a small diamond cone shaped tip and ground the groove all of the splines till it would slide on. Still tight but it worked. I'm assuming it does not have to slide easily as long as it can be tightened between the differential and the transfer case.

it needs to move fairly easily, as the suspension compresses and extends the driveshaft needs to take up the difference. otherwise you'll be putting undo stresses on the transfer case and could make a 1 piece transfer into a splitcase design.

You should be able to move it by hand. Make sure there is not too much grease inside as it can stop compression.
