Drilling the frame to mount accesories?

just wondering what you all have done for mounting accesories like rock sliders and tube protection (sides). I don't have anything there that will work so do I have to drill the frame? If so how big? Mounting plates on both sides? What about just welding direct to the frame. I am in the building process so I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks J

To get my sliders in place I used clamps with an U-shape.
They fit tight around the frame. At the top the clamps are closed by bolts.
I used two on each side. One at the end and one in the middle of the slider. At the front I bolted it to the crossmember for the tranny.
