I have been looking at the Drifta products for a couple of years. Yesterday I e-mailed the owner asking if he had a distributor in the US. The bad news is no he dosen't. The good news is he would support a group buy.
I was interested in the Car Back Kitchen but the Drifta 100,200,300 also look cool. He has a lot of other styles like one that attaches to a trailer tail gate, or one that pulls out of a trailer.

Anybody interested in a group buy on some of his stuff?

I'd be interested in hearing more. I looked at their stuff a while back. My impression at the time was that, after transit across the ocean, it would be cheaper for me to make my own. Ironically I just started cutting a mock-up tonight in order to see the space it needs to fit in, etc...

That said, since I have no wood invested in my own yet, just some stiff foam, I'd be interested to here more and may be interested in buying if the price is within reason.

Cheers,
JFS III

I'll build you one like this... or one 53" wide to fit on the tailgate of your cruiser or a smaller one with just the camp stove width. Adjustable legs and propane and water pump on board. tell me what you want and I will make it. My Nephew and I are making them 16'x16"x68" right now but we will make the other two dimensions later if enough are interested.

This is the style I was interested in. Built to fit on top of the drawer system in a 100.

I am sure that would be easier and cheaper to build one here vs. shipping one from down under.

I am building one for my trailer.

Cheaper maybe, easier????? Not everyone has mad wood working skilzs.

funny story, i was going to be a USA distributor. what this entailed for us (owner and i) was for me to build them instead of him shipping them here. i was all set and he was going to fly over and spend time making sure i was up to his standards for building, but unfortunately it never panned out and we quit discussing it. he does have good products, but for the money you can draw up plans and have most any cabinet shop do you a custom whatever.

Thanks. I like the fact that it has fully contained water and propane. All you have to do is roll it out and start cookin. We are going to make a design with LED lights as well but for now the propane stalk and Coleman lantern are more than enough for lighting the camp zone. We have to work in a flat pannel and sound system next for the tail gaiters!!

REALLY nice! Wish I was still living in Minneapolis so you could build one up for me! Do you have any pics of it installed?

Heck, I'll build you one! It will cost about $80 to ship. I made it so it will fit in the rear of the 80 with no seats as I have a full drawer system that I built. It will also fit right in the back of my M100 millitary trailer, which is where I really made it to go..... To answer your original question, no I don't have any photos.. If you are interested in having one made, let me know which options you want and I will shoot you a price and make one for you, ship it Greyhound and your set.

Very cool, I'll think out exactly what I need and get back to you for sure!

my 5+ year review:

It's a killer set up, quality has been great, and we love using it and stashing it is easy.
only thing I break is the little tabs made of plastic that hold the legs when you stow it. Luke was really cool and sent me a baker's dozen of new ones and they have worked since.
Here's some pics of it in the rig. ( '94 80 series)

it came with a hole in the flip open bar that you can set up a hand pump and use a tub for a sink, and plumb the water from your own source(bottle on rear bumper, etc.) I truthfully have yet to use it, but it's really nice.

the adjustable legs on everything make it awesome to set up on the granite slabs and not have your stove at a 25 degree slant. When we are in Pismo the legs stuff into the sand another inch or so and it's rock solid. I like to set the drawer and flip over bar up tall, and sometimes use the table with the legs at half mast as a dining table and we just sit around it.
When at a stop, it's easy to slide it half way out and fix a drink or chips and guac and just set on the rear lid and hang out. since it's opposite of the fridge side, if I ever got a drop slide, i could make a drink while my fridge was dropped down.

Fit and finish has been really great. it came painted and carpeted. I have the wing covers for the coves, but never use them. I've been meaning to put those on, it's easy, just slide the bracket in and yer done.

Luke will customize pretty much anything you want. He might already have it made, his product line has really taken off lately.

I added the tie downs and aircraft hardware. I fabbed up the angle plates to mount into the floor attachment points. It has carpet on bottom even. The drawers slide on fat runners of HDPE/(delrin) plastic and never rattle. I have it pushed right up to the rear of the second seat. I could probly move it back another 2 inches towards rear deck. When the fridge is on, it doesn't vibrate the contents while driving. So you don't hear any annoying hum or rattles.

it helped me win the Ultimate Sand Chef and Rock Chef competitions too...

I've had hundreds of pounds worth of soil bags on top of it, and the drawers still work perfect. there isn't any flex in the top at all. The carpet doesn't pill, and it's easy to brush off when sand gets on it.

and he sent me a few beer coozies in it as a surprise.

When the ladies see it, they want one. which means, the guys get to go camping more....WINNING!
