Builds - “It’s only an axle swap and a motor swap” aka AK2AL aka Dream Build
Well, it’s finally happening. The Dream Pig showed up today! After months of searching and a few false starts, the rust free, California edition, super clean, bad transmission, great deal, ‘73 Hog has landed here in Tuscaloosa today. As it sits today: 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 “Iron Pig”...forum.ih8mud.com
Those old caddy engines are awesome there is a 500 on Craigslist here in Colorado.Depends upon goals.
Aside from shooting myself in my foot, I'm mostly enjoying my 6.0L NV4500 FJ55. Gets the hell out of its own way
I didn't feel it was enough power so piggy number 2 is getting turbo 5.3L. The turbo should handle the issue of over power on parts... ie "soft" power. Waiting on cash/shop time on this
I went with a completely off the wall swap for piggy number 3: 472 big block Cady. 'Old' diesel like power(ie off idle, 210hp/380ft-lbs) in 625lb package(50lbs more than iron block LSx). Actually fits between the rails nicely. Only issue is 40 years out of production Still screwing around with this project
