door lock actuator motors?

i thought i bought these off a reputable 80 series guy but i can't see how i would get the wires soldered on. also that worm drive gear doesn't seem to want to come off the shaft.
anyone done one of these recently? also can i get into this harness with a couple of small alligator clips and a 12V battery and test these motors? or am i going to burn something up trying this...? THANKS

For pulling the gear, I made a little gear puller out of a block of aluminum using a hacksaw, small files and a 10-32 screw.
